Job Opening: Faculty Position at the Center for EMI Teaching Excellence, Si Wan College National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, R.O.C.
The Center for EMI Teaching Excellence at Si Wan College, National Sun Yat-sen University is looking to fill one non-tenure track contract faculty position in College English instruction.
I. Position: One Full-time Contract-based Assistant Professor for College English Instruction
II. Qualifications:
A. Doctoral degree in English-related disciplines, e.g., ESL, TESOL, applied linguistics, etc. from an educational institution recognized by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan.
B. Experienced in teaching undergraduate General English courses. A qualification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or a related field is preferred.
C. Experienced in EAP (English for Academic Purposes), ESP (English for Special Purposes) or ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes), with a record of related research output.
D. Preference will be given to native speakers of English. Basic conversational and reading proficiency in Chinese is desirable but not required.
III. Job Description:
A. Teaching General English courses and EAP/ESP courses.
B. Supporting NSYSU’s English-medium instruction policy and demonstrating commitment to teaching and teamwork.
C. Collaborating with the English teaching team to develop curricula and instructional strategies to improve students’ English proficiency.
D. Assisting Si Wan College and the Center for EMI Teaching Excellence in promoting English education and extracurricular enhancement activities.
IV. Salary: In accordance with the NSYSU Table of Salary, Insurance, Pension, and Retirement Fund for Faculty and Staff.
( NSYSU offers a starting monthly wage of NTD 83,720 for an assistant professor).
V. Teaching responsibility: In accordance with the Guidelines on the Assessment of Contract Employed Faculty in the Center for EMI Teaching Excellence of the Si Wan College. The standard teaching load is 12 hours per week each semester.
VI. Appointment: The appointment will begin on Feb. 1st , 2027 or Aug. 1st , 2027, for a one-year term. 4. A copy of representative work and supporting publications (supporting publication are not required if none)
5. 3~4 Courses you could teach ( including the names and syllabus of the courses. Please design 3-credit courses)
