摘 要：Conversation, despite being arguably the most basic and most frequent of language use,had
been relatively little studied from a quantitative linguistic approach.There is indeed a
serious gap between the work of dialogue system developers and the one of conversational
analysts. In this talk, I will approach conversational corpora by means of Natural
Language Processing and analyse quantitatively conversation linguistic structures. More
precisely, I am interested in establishing conversational surface patterns,corresponding
to conversational routines. These routines contribute to make conversation easy and
efficient despite its apparent difficult nature (building linguistic structures under
pressure and while monitoring linguistic activities from the interlocutor).
I will present the different steps to obtain these patterns (segmentation, tagging,chunking
and pattern extraction) and discuss their functions. Finally, I will explore the possibility
to map these conversational patterns across languages (here, French and Mandarin) thanks to
their pragmatic similarity.
